Yeah, I had to asterisk that out…I could have written “stuff” but no one says “so Harry really called Joe out on his stuff yesterday” – just doesn’t happen…

Pretty much all of us have had any number of occasions where we’ve been listening to someone, taken a good look at them, maybe raised an eyebrow and said something like “Soooooo, you really believe that?” or “Seriously? That’s what you’re going with?” as we realized that what we’d just heard was, in fact, totally inconsistent with the values and reality of the speaker.
Yup…it was B.S. plain and simple.

Sometimes we might feel pretty good when they realize their folly and reconsider. We might even feel proud of ourselves for helping them back on track. We might even feel a bit…cocky… about being able to see so clearly what they could not.

But what about when the speaker isn’t someone else but YOU!
Ugh…

This is one of those good news/bad news deals.
I always like getting the bad news first so, the bad news is we gotta suck it up and admit we were way off base; but the good news is there was someone there to help.

I know that in my own life I am glad to know there are people who not only can see what I’m doing (or considering doing) clearly enough to warn me; more importantly, they care enough to do so!

For my money, I say seek these people out!

Of course we all want to be self-aware to the point of not needing this kind of assist, but there are times and situations where our enlightenment kinda slips a bit, and that’s where these folks come to the rescue.

So, to those of you in my life who have taken on this role (and no, I am NOT going to name you) I say “Thanks” and here’s to not needing your help in this way again…or at least not very often…
